FAQs MAINTENANCE & PRODUCTS

How do I remove a stain?

Simply brush the stain with warm water and soap. For more complex stains, such as grease, sludge, wine, grass, etc., ox gall soap is ideal. Moisten the soap, brush directly onto the stain, then rinse with clean water. You’ll see, it’s magic!

How do I maintain the waxed cotton of my old Clem&Léon bag?

The first version of the Clem&Léon bag (S00101), as well as some of its accessories, were made from cotton canvas treated with beeswax oil. This natural protection makes the fabric even more resistant and, above all, naturally water-repellent. Like leather, it will develop a patina over time. After a few months, the wax will dry out and the fabric will lose its greasy, cracked appearance. However, it is possible to iron on wax to waterproof the fabric, but we don’t sell maintenance products and can’t guarantee the results of such waterproofing. To remove stains, gently brush the fabric, then rinse with clean water. Do not immerse the product in water, as this may cause the leather to bleed. Machine and dry-cleaning are prohibited, as are detergents and chemicals. The second version of the bag (S00102), and its accessories, are made from paraffin-coated cotton and the leather will not bleed, but requires the same care when it comes to maintenance.

Can I put my bag in the washing machine?

It depends on the product.
We strongly advise against putting your Clem&Léon with the leather logo (S00101) in the washing machine. The logo and straps will bleed onto the light gray cotton.
On the other hand, for the following versions: messenger bag Clem&Léon V2 (S00102) and the other backpacks and accessories in the range, the leather will not bleed, but may be faded (losing its colors, for example).

You can therefore put them in the washing machine on an exceptional basis (at 30°C MAX) and leave them to dry in the open air, in the shade, upside down to allow them to drain. The best thing to do is to maintain your bag regularly. Simply brush it with lukewarm water and Marseille soap (or ox gall soap) as soon as you get a stain. Don’t hesitate

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the care of your product, as it’s often a case-by-case basis.

Can I put the PAQUIER changing mat in the washing machine?

The removable Tencel undersheet is machine-washable at 60°C. If you get stains on the rest of the mattress, brush it by hand (Marseille soap or ox gall soap). If you have to machine-wash it (we know what it’s like to change a baby 😅 ), don’t wash it above 30°C.

How long does the Semnoz insulated case keep warm or cold?

When it comes to warmth, you can go for a walk with total confidence. To give you an idea, we did a test: in a room at room temperature (28°C), we filled a glass baby bottle with boiling water (100°C). After 5 hours, the water had returned to room temperature (28°C). Of course, this may vary according to the outside temperature, the type of bottle used, and the initial heat of the liquid (boiling or just hot). We can therefore estimate a comfortable warm-up time of around 2 hours.

or cold, it’s more difficult to estimate the duration. We’ve tried it with yoghurt and estimate that it will keep cool for around onr hour. For longer periods, consider adding a small ice pack.

Are the bags waterproof?

No, the bags are not “waterproof” but ” water-resistant “, which is not the same thing.
The material used for all our bags and accessories is 100% recycled 1000D nylon with a PU (polyurethane) coating on the reverse and a PFC-free DWR water-repellent treatment on the front. In terms of standards, a product is said to be ” water-resistant ” when it is between 1000 and 2000 Schmerber (which is the case for our main material). This means it can withstand a 2 m of water flow on a 1 cm surface. In other words, it’s equivalent to a “normal” rainfall of around 1 hour.

Do you have rain protections for your bags?

For more intensive use, in particular for the MINI-SQUAMISH and ANNECY which are more exposed to rain (proximity to the bike wheel), we have created a « rain cover » which protects the bag like a waterproof “sock” when attached to the bike.
